We have seen football teams organize competitions with FIFA coverage, NBA has also invested a lot in popularisation of their game with numerous different tournaments, NHL too. But this is the first time tennis is getting acknowledged as a eSports. To make things more interesting, one of the most known tennis tournaments in the world Rolland-Garros and French tennis association has decided to support this project and give it a big boost.

The French Open, also called Roland-Garros is a major tennis tournament held over two weeks between late May and early June at the Stade Roland-Garros in Paris, France. Named after the French aviator Roland Garros, it is the premier clay court tennis championship event in the world and the second of four annual Grand Slam tournaments, the other three being the Australian Open, Wimbledon and the US Open. Roland Garros is currently the only Grand Slam event held on clay, and it is the zenith of the spring clay court season. Because of the seven rounds needed for a championship, the slow-playing surface and the best-of-five-set men's singles matches (without a tiebreak in the final set), the event is widely considered to be the most physically demanding tennis tournament in the world. -source: wikipedia

The tournament will start in April, and it will end in Paris, during the live tournament finale.

The game, players will compete in is called Tennis World Tour made by Bigben Interactive. It is not yet published, but all contestants will get a copy of the game earlier so they can prepare for this tournament.

Tennis World Tour is a tennis sports game developed by Breakpoint Studio and published by Bigben Interactive for Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows. It will be released on 22 May 2018. The game will let players take control of 30 stars' careers from men's and women’s professional tennis. -source: wiki

Interestingly there is no Novak Djokovic on the list, but it is subjugated to change.

BNP Paribas support the tournament and the official name for the competition is Roland-Garros e-series by BNP Paribas. The BNP Paribas has a new agreement where they will help and invest in the tournament until 2021, and this eSports project is the cherry on the ice cream of the contract. It will last for more than two and a half months, and there will be numerous small qualifying tournaments held in India, Brazil, Germany, Belgium, China, Italy, the United Kingdom and of course France. All players that qualify will join the main tournament in Paris.

There are speculations that the prize for the French Open will increase for astonishing $3 million for this tournament.

There is still no word about the prize pool or terms and conditions for the upcoming tournament, but we believe it will be a massive impact on the eSports world, and players will get remarkable benefits and prizes. If you need more information, you can head out to their official website and learn more about the tournament and the game. We here at Small Teaser wish good luck and some awesome aces for all the players that will register and compete. Have fun, we will cheer for you!
