10 games in development, to keep an eye on.

Experimental, original and in development. Keep these very promising titles in mind, they will be worth their price when their release date comes.

When I made my original “Upcoming Indie game of 2018” there were so many other titles that I could not add, either due to lack of info, still early in development or just the developer having the mentality of “When its done its done”. But the games still look amazing, and the fewer lists of “good games you missed”, the better in my opinion. So here are some great games that still don't have a solid release date, but you should still keep an eye out for them.
Small Bonus: Most of these titles have demos, or extensive early game footage available!

10 Jack & Casie

This such a simple and yet fun concept. You play as the hero's item box, picking up stuff from the ground so that the hero can use them battle. Part RPG, part puzzler and with a very nice art style, this is one of those simple games that are excellent to waste some time on.

Side, there is a flash game with the same premise you can find online.

9 CODE: HARDCORE

A Kickstarter success, this is 2D action mech game, with platforming elements. Very promising, but that is about all the info I could give since the game is mainly Chinese developed. For what I could translate, the game might release some time this year, but that is still in the air.

Still, the game looks exciting and should be on a lot of peoples radar.

8 FIGHT KNIGHT

by Lyubomir Atanasov
by Lyubomir Atanasov

The name is the game! A menacing tower, tones of evil bad guys within, and a knight looking for some good old barehanded fighting. The retro FPS style, plus the pure melee combat system and funny writing, give this title a uniqueness all its own.

7 Indivisible

From the people that made the excellent fighting game “Skullgirls”, comes Indivisible! A Metroidvania, with Valkyrie Profile combat system and a collection of multiple mythologies that are rarely used in gaming. The game also carriers the known style and great animation, that is on display with Skullgirls. The game has constant updates, but the release date is still a nebulas 2018. Still, keep an eye out for this, it will be worth it.

6 Blue Omen Operation

This is more or less a “Mario and Luigi” style RPG, aka 2 character party, pressing buttons in time to dodge attacks and do combos, plus mini-games for spell casting. But there is also about the style that gets my attention. I get a “classic” anime feel from it, and that does push a button of mine. But still, you can tell that this will be a good game when it comes out, so keep it on your radar.

5 Desert Child

Stuck in a dead-end town, with nothing but some spare change and your old hoverbike. Enough is enough, start racing, start doing jobs (legal and illegal), start upgrading and start getting up in this world… and off it since apparently, it will be exploding soon.
Also, don't forget to leave yourself some spare cash for ramen, you still human after all.

4 Cryamore

This is one of the first Kickstarter games that left an impression on me. The great art style, a solid action RPG, and some good music. Though through the years it had its ups and downs (the biggest up being that at some point the game would be published by Atlus). It still going through, and while not frequent there are still updates that show progress in development. And there is still a faint hope that it will be released sometime this 2018.

3 Starr Mazer

Here is another interesting game that mixes genres. Half side-scrolling shooter and half classic adventure game, Starr Mazer knows how to grab a persons attention. And while official updates are starting to be released on a monthly, there is still reassurance that the game is still in development and it will come out at some point. In the meantime, you can check out Starr Mazer: DSP, a short, stand-alone shmup set in the same universe.

2 Return of the Obra Dinn

by Lyubomir Atanasov

This the most frustrating game to keep track off, mainly since I'm sure there is no official site for its development. But the game looks amazing. An FPS adventure game by the man behind “Papers, Please”, sporting a very weird art style. The idea is that you are investigating a long-lost ship, the Obra Dinn, that has washed up, with nothing but skeletons. And the main tool you have at your disposal is a stopwatch that brings back in time, at the moment of death of whoever you used it on.

1 Iron Harvest 1920

This is the most recently announced title on this list. An RTS that takes place in a fictional 1920 setting, but among the infantry you get giant, steam-punk mechs! And yes, they are as devastating as they seem. This is the most recent announced game on this list, but there is plenty of alpha footage and it looks great! Definitely keep this game in mind, just as all the other games on this list.
